Mail.app with the Cyrus mail server bundled with X server
IMAP
In my mail client, I see all *my* mailboxes.
I also see all the shared mailboxes, as children of a folder called "user".
This makes sense because that is what the top level folder of the mail store i called.
However, another user, also using Mail.app, instead of "user", has "Other users". This is a real pain, becuase I can't write a script that I want to if the folder names aren't consistent.
Can anyone suggest why it is "user" for one user and "Other Users" for another?
In Cyrus namespace it will always be user.<username> structures on the server for user mailboxes. If it's showing as something else then this is client-side behaviour. Have you checked the Mail.app client versions? ..are (or have there been) any plugins installed that modify the client?

For me as a user, I get a top level mailbox called "user" with both Mail.app 1.3.11 on 10.3.9 and Mail.app 2.0.7 on 10.4.6.
Different user, same computers,
One user, Mail 2.0.7 on 10.4.6 has "other users"
Another user, Mail.app 1.3.11 on 10.3.9 has "other users"
so it appears to be a "per user" setting
But I can't for the life of me see anything in Mail Preferences that might cause it.
Still confused.......
I've conducted a straw poll among users..... it seems that everyone else has "Other users", it's only me that has "users".
Still confused.......
Maybe it's because i'm an imap administrator, so i get to see the folder tree "as it really is", but for some reason the plebs get "user" translated to "Other users" ??????????????????????
