AW 6.2.9 on OS X 10.3.9

I've got an AW spread*** that I need to have an excel copy of

So I do this:
1. duplicate the file in the finder
2. rename the duplicate with extesion ".xls" (note that the icon
changes even though it is still an AW file)
3. Open it in AW and chang the type to Excel. Save / replace

It's all ok up to the end of step 2.
But after step 3, the file vanishes from the finder. i kid you not.
it happens reproducably. I've had somee freaky weird stuff happen
with AW before, but ***losing files*** ???????

Try it with another name for the duplicate - omitting the .xls extension
- and then do a save as Excel ?

Don't think it will help - copy is destined for PC so needs .xls extension.

I think the point is not to confuse the poor thing by having (2) load
an AW file with an XLS extension.

I would try this:
1) Duplicate the file in the finder
2) Open with AW
3) Save as Excel file.

Yep, you don't put on the xls extension, until the file really is an xls
file. Don't save and replace either, just open the original AW file, do
a save as, choose a new file name, save, add the .xls extension (or
unhide it).

Thanks

Didn't have time to fiddle,,,,just gave the client a pdf instead of the requested ,xls

But whatever the mecahnism...IT SHOULD NOT DLETE FILES FOR YOU!

Cheers
