On a PowerBook open the displays control panel with the external monitorAh - right.
connected, go to the middle tab "Arrangement" and uncheck "Mirror
Displays" (you can do this in the menu bar if you've got "Show displays
in menu bar" checked, then send the TV signal to the external and keep
the desktop on the lappy.
Will give it a try later - cheers.
Well, I tried... Sys Prefs with the TV connected brings up 2 windows - one
each for the TV & iMac. Neither has an 'Arrangement' tab or 'Mirror Display'
option. The TV was set to 60 Hertz NTSC so I changed it to 50 Hertz PAL.
Ticking 'Overscan' got rid of the menubar while the video was playing - but
it wasn't there anyway before! Played around with a few of the resolutions,
iMac now at 1024x640 & TV at 1024x768. All resolution options I tried didn't
seem to fix the 'jumbo' problem. (BTW , this is a 1st Gen 1.6Mhz G5 iMac).
Seems your iMac can't do spanning without the hack:

Also, if you're using QT Player, you'll need it to pay for the Pro
licence to get full screen video, or there are other options. I think
DVD Player is OK
Cheers
