Hi, I hope someone can help me. I am an amature with Macs, my
machine used to start up by pushing the button on the keyboard, but
now, no matter what I do, about 10 seconds after pushing the button on
either the keyboard or case, the machine powers down. I can hear the
hard drive get up to speed, but then poof, nothing.

Is there a reset or an F key to press to get it going?

If it's an iMac, then it could be a failed flyback transformer. If it's
got an external monitor socket, plugging a monitor into it might get it
going.

Hi, I'm back. It's a blue and white G3. The battery tests good, I
unpluged the second hard drive, the zip, the CD, the firewire for my
camcorder, and only have the monitor in the video card's port and the
usb for the keyboard/mouse. I thought for sure that it was the
battery on the motherboard, but it's something else. I'm pretty good
with pcs, but am very green to the world of Macs. There must be
something else, anyone have any ideas? I've never had a computer that
was as simple to confingure to edit video on. This machine worked
right out of the box (ebay for $100 US). Every PC I've had is a pain
to get optimized for video use, I was about to buy a new one with the
intel proc. Good thing that I got this old one to practice on first.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Nick oh yeah it's got
Panther OS on it.
