Advice: Mac G4 400 pci slot type

Have a client who's just purchased both an IDE and a USB2 controller.

He's having difficulty in installing them in his G4 400.

I'm wondering what sort of PCI slots this machine has that is preventing
him from inserting the cards.

Can anyone shed some light?
