Well I originally had them all as a normal calender, but since I
started putting their birth dates into Address Book, it seemed
pointless to have it telling me twice, so I deleted the non-read only

There is that, yes.
I could do it, but it seems like such a task, when a simple bit of
programming by Apple could have fixed the problem before it started...
It would have indeed, but you can only deal with what you can change,
and you were asking for a solution
P.S. thanks for being the only person who attempted to answer my
question. My comment about killing posts was simply to put the original
post higher in the recent posts list
I assume that is a google thing. Most people who regularly post here
don't use google groups so that would make no difference to your post.
It also makes it less likely to reply to your original post as it is
easy to answer, and makes you sound like you are throwing your toys out
of the pram!
People don't tend to answer if someone 'demands' an answer. Also just
because people don't answer doesn't mean they are ignoring you, they
might just not know the answer.
but it has attracted more replies
than my actual question.
That is because you called it a board and didn't quote context.
It isn't your fault that this has been picked up - since google started
its 'google groups' thing, people have been posting without quoting, top
posting and assuming that this group is something to do with google,
which is a little irritating (and against the charter of the group)
