I guess one way to do it would be to put one mono track on the left
channel, and another mono track on the right channel, and tell whoever's
listening to the CD to only play the left or right channel. Easy with
earphones, but I don't think all CD players will completely mute one
stereo channel.
That would still only get you 140 minutes or so, and IIRC you've got 283
minutes of stuff?
I think the way to go is to stop being such a cheapskate, and use
multiple CDs at 10p a pop or however much they are.
That sounds sensible.
