Re: I know they said there would be difficulties....

But, this is bloody ridiculous. Internet at 8Mbps is quite frankly crap.
In three days now this has got worse than ever. Yesterday wasn't too
bad, but last night and today, it's worse and worse. I can't even stay
online ling enough to send a support ticket.

MacSOUP is currently reporting 80bps, and is only managing to send one
article, and receive a handful at a time. Yet my router is still showing
a solid connection at 8128Kbps.

I wouldn't mind too much if they'd been a bit more honest about the
information, but to be quite frank, it's not been entirely accurate.

First I was told:

"Further to your recent order 249459, we are pleased to advise
that your planned ADSL RE-GRADE ACTIVATION date should be no later
than 21 Apr 2006.

Your RE-GRADE may take place at any time before this, the latest
being the above date at 7:30PM, and you will receive further
confirmation from us once it has been completed."

Then they said:

"As a result of this monitoring process your broadband service may
be interrupted for up to 1 minute. This is normal and most routers
will reconnect automatically, although modem users will need to manually
reconnect to the Internet."

But I'm lucky if I can stay connected for 1 minute. My router happily
renegotiates a new connection BTW.

Is this Eclipse, or BT?

I had the same problem with Zen. Their support web pages say this:
Notice for Zen 8000 Pro and Active Customers
The following information is provided to assist customers who have
ordered these products.
It is normal for customers to experience speeds of around 2Mbit/s, or
similar to their old service, in the initial period following a regrade
to IPStream Max - until BT automatically increase the maximum throughput
available. An initial increase should occur after a maximum of 75
minutes, however this could take up to three days if BT determine
further line monitoring is required. Further details are available in
our Zen 8000 Pro and Active Glossary in the Knowledge Base:
http://www.zensupport.co.uk/knowledgebase/article.aspx?id=10537.

In fact when you go into it you find it takes ten days for the service
to settle down. I was getting a lot of disconnects when in the past I
had a perfect service. Slowly it has got better, but during the ten days
the service was almost unusable. I have also discovered from phoning Zen
support that BT consider anything above 400bps as acceptable service,
and although they are switching whole exchanges over they are as yet not
providing extra capacity, so contention means your service is unlikely
to hit anywhere 8MB for a long time to come. Mine is usually about 2.5MB
at the moment, and the disconnects have stopped.

Be patient, your service will improve.
