A DVD-R formatted UDF or ISO should hold about 4500meg (to avoid any
confusion, that's all in multiples of 1024 bytes) of raw data.
I frankly have no idea if a +R or +RW or -RW disk would be a different
size, but DVD-R I have empirical evidence about. I do my tertiary
backups onto them.
Me too, DVD-R - but never got more than 4.2 gig. Ah well, the byte
faerie, probably....
