This may be a very simple thing to do but at the moment I'm not exactly
sure of the best way. I've read about a number of ways in the group's
archive.

My problem is simple, I have my music library on my C drive which is
now near capacity. I have since installed a second drive with a lot of
free space so I wish to move my entire collection to the new drive. Is
it a simple case of copying the root music library directory to the new
drive? What settings need to be changed in iTunes? Or do I use the
export and import menu options?

Thanks

I assume we're talking iTunes for Windows here? (What with the C drive an'
all...!)

In iTunes - wander over to the Edit -> Preferences... Then go to the
Advanced tab -> General sub-tab.

See where your music folder location is? This should be where your music
files are. You are free to move this, to another drive even. Best do this
when iTunes isn't running!

When you've moved it, restart iTunes and tell it where you've moved the
folder to (The 'Change...' button).

Be sure to move just the iTunes Music folder - not the files n stuff in My
Music/iTunes - that's the part of the library that always need to be there;
just the 'iTunes Music' folder.
