Half an hour later Mail.app polls my accounts again and, as if by magic, the read message in my IMAP mailbox is "unread" again...
Never seen that behaviour for myself (100% IMAP), so I'm not sure if that's not a server problem.
Happens to both my IMAP accounts and they have different servers. I can't remember this happening with older versions of Mail (not sure which version it seemed to start with though).
Interesting. Is Mail.app the sole client polling that server?
I have three IMAP accounts, two self-run using Courier and one .Mac. It's not unusual for three clients to be polling - my laptop, my desktop and sometimes web mail as well (not .Mac for web mail). I don't have any problems with messages appearing as unread once I've read them - that's not to say I'm doubting you by the way, just trying to narrow down what the difference is.
I've been using my self-run accounts for years, on clients from Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Mail.app under 10.2 and then every subsequent version of Mail.app up to and including 10.4.5, and Horde's IMP web mail (v2 and v3). Not a hassle I've seen, though I absolutely -have- seen the drafts problem.
Cheers,
Ian
