Printing from a Mac, any Mac I have, is bloody slow compared to a
Windows PC using the same printers.
...but not the same printer drivers. Specifically, I'll bet the
majority of low-to-mid end printers are optimised for Windows GDI
performance, and have less of an emphasis on decent Postscript support.
Do the printers you're using have genuine Postscript interpreters or
are they clones? If clones, a friend of mine would like to deliver a
long lecture to you about the various shortcomings and why this is a
possibility (ex-Adobe guy).
The current printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R300 and I'm using Gimp
Print drivers. The Epson drivers are even slower for regular document
printing, although they print photos really well, albeit slow but I
expect that anyway.
