Anyone out there using ARD?

yeah, but on 10.4...

When I use it ti try ans install packages (Apple software updates) on my clients, it always fails. Typically helpful Apple, no useful error message. It just fails. I do see the files being transferred OK. I am connected as the administrator of that machine.

This on 10.3.9

Thought: is it related to the machiens bing in use - refusing to do a restart? Lets's try it on an unused machine

Any other suggestions anyone?

Are you an admin user on the ARD box, if not have you enabled all of the functionality of ARD for non-admin users?

Also, as you're using Server I'd be inclined to forego ARD and have a local software update server, then update the clients in the usual way from the managed swupd.
