I'm currently running OS 10.3.9 from an external Hard Drive which is
also running an Apache server with PHP and various MySQL databases.
Due to my powerbook blowing up I shall soon be getting a new Mac
(haven't decided which one yet) that will have OS 10.4.x installed on
it. I may as well take this opportunity to upgrade to Tiger, so what is
the best way to move all my current settings, files, applications and
especially the PHP and MySQL set-ups onto the new system from the
eternal drive??
I don't really want to go through the rigmarole of setting up the PHP
and MYSQL installations from scratch again.
There's some method of importing everything from an old system during
installation. Which created surprisingly little havoc when I tried it
sucking in my G5 settings onto Powerbook.
But that said, it ignored all my messing around under /etc. And then
things owned by root don't seem to be visible when mounted via
AppleShare later.
But of course you'll be able to move your drive onto new system when you
do the residual copying.
Good luck,
