Powerbook G3 Bronze - new HDD

Hi Group,
I'm trying to source a new hard disk drive to fit in an old
Powerbook "Bronze Keyboard" G3 333MHz machine for
a friend.
Apparantly the machine was designated as such when
sold in the UK some years ago.
My questions:-
Can I fit any modern 2,5" IDE drive? What is the maximum
capacity that the machine can see/use? I've also read
some posts about possible problems with the differing
ATA5/ATA6 standards.
The machine has 196MB RAM and will hopefully upgraded
from OS9 to OS-X 10.2 or OS-X 10.3.
Many thanks,
David
.
