Re: OT: Cute overload

Er, yes you do. Your 'simple fact' is precisely what anthropomorphising entails. The pathetic fallacy requires exactly that supposition.

It's not anthropmorphism to identify traits which are not uniquely human. Clue: if I say that humans and mammals both have legs that's not anthropomorphism.

Unless you genuinely believe that animals have no capacity for pain and suffering, of course, in which case you might have a point (albeit a rather dubious one).

I adopt the latter position, but without the absurd non-sequitur that it inevitably means vegetarianism in some form or another. You conflate a moral position, which is enshrined in our laws, with a lifestyle choice which isn't.

It's only a /non sequitur/ to you because you're in denial about the fact that your penchant for flesh-eating causes unnecessary suffering.

If you've made it a principle that you'll take no animal products, then fine. For you. Now get down off the soapbox.

In case you hadn't noticed, the discussion had pretty much ended yesterday - you're the only one still banging the meat-eating drum.

But anyway, I'm happy to offer no further comment on the subject - I learned long ago that once people raach a certain stage in life they get set in their ways and it's pointless to challenge their cosy world view.

As you were,
