IDVD and HDTV Content Playback? Please Read

You might remember one of my last posts re playback of content on a 12"
powerbook to a HDTV.

Well I was at the Apple Store in Manchester yesterday, asking them what the
best way of playing back footage on a HDTV screen, they suggested that I
burn the HD footage, ie trailers etc to a DVD in IDVD and play it back in
my Hight Def DVD player.

Will this work, I am not that up on this, but I cant think it will be in HD
quality?

Also if I was to buy a HD camcorder and edit on Final Cut Express HD, then
burn to DVD and play back on the stand alone HD DVD player will it be HD
quality.

I hope some one out there can assist me.
