Performa 6400 / Performa 475 Network Question

Hi all,
Got me a Performa 6400 with a Kingston KNE40 PCI Network card. Running 9.1 (clean install) with the latest Kingston driver from kingston.com.
Thing is, TCP/IP Control Panel only gives me the option of AppleTalk or PPP, and I want neither. Kingston's diagnostic program knows the card's there - it passes the basic test no problems.
I'm trying to network it to my old Performa 475 so I can use the 6400's CDROM drive to install OS8 on the 475. So I figured I'd give them both manual IP addresses, boot from a floppy (on the 475), access the 6400's CDROM drive and run the install from there. Seems it's not so simple.
What am I doing wrong here?

I later realized the Performa 6400 has a SCSI CDROM. I have an external SCSI enclosure that used to have a CDROM in it (until the drive died) and I used to use it on the P475. So there's the answer to my original question. I'd still like to know how to get the file sharing method working, tho.
Cheers, Dave -- (remove spamblock or reply to group) .
