mail server and client

I'm using cyrus mail server on Panther Server and Eudora on Panther clients. With IMAP.

Main reason for using Eudora is that you can create mailboxes ***on the fly*** ie in the middle of transferring mail. That in itself is reason to use it.

I am not happy because for some inexplicable reason the client sometimes doesn't display an email, or takes ages to download the body. It's flipping annoying, knowing that my 1K email is 30 feet away on a 100MHz network, but it takes 20S to fetch it.
Its not down to the number of connections permitted on either the client or server.
It's nothing to do with settings, protocols, etc because it only haappoens *sometimes*

So I wonder, is there another OS X IMAP mail client that lets you create mailboxes on the fly???

Also I peed off with Cyrus becuase it takes SO LONG to download attachments. Fortunately most are small so not too bad. But the other day I had a 10MB download which I jusst gave up on becuase it took so long. As I said, this is all on the local network in the office, so really should not be happening. There is nothing wrong with the network becaause eveerything else is OK.

So, either someone may have a hint for how to speed up the downloading of attachments from Cyrus

Or a recommendation for a better mail server. I know that there are various ones out there, but not read anything that seems to make it a clear decision which one to go for.

Any hints / experiences?

thanks
