We do this at the moment: Elgato EyeTV -> G4 -> Cinema Display

Picture quality is better than our previous dedicated freeview box (an early
Nokia).

We had a TV for a while that did DVI and RGB as well as SCART. Very handy
for this kind of thing. But the picture quality was poor, as it often is
with low-cost LCDs -- it ended up going back to the shop. The Cinema Display
is *much* better.

Not AFAIK. Nor are there any reasonably priced converters to go the other
way (RGB SCART -> DVI).

You don't know how much you want this set up until you've paused live TV,
made dinner, come back, and watched that programme you wanted to see, whilst
being able to skip the ads. It changes what you watch and how you watch.

Problems are for us the Cinema Display doesn't do SCART so our existing VCR
and DVD player are useless. We also can't watch one channel while recording
another (but we can watch a pre-recording whilst recording something else,
which you can't do with a VCR).

Do this; you will not regret it.
