Cmd-F1 seems to flip it between mirroring and external (according to
the Apple menu). Cmd-F2 doesn't seem to do anything.
This is the wierd thing. The monitor control panel seems happy that the
external monitor is there - it even identifies it correctly as a Dell
1025HE. When I flip between modes or from mirroring to separate
display, the image on the external display does change: it just gives
me a different flavour of not working. It feels as though twiddling a
vertical hold control on the monitor would cure this - if only there
was such a control! The Dell monitor only has four buttons on the front
that control things like width and height, pincushioning and
de-gaussing.
