Well, I delved in the cellar and found my old Win98 Dell laptop and had
a go. After formatting, ScanDisk claimed to have found and fixed all
kinds of errors, but at the end of the day, it didn't work - there are
folders on the card that simply won't go away!!
Thanks for your suggestion, but it looks like the card is a goner.
