compaq nc2400 not resuming from standby

Hello everyone

I have an HP Compaq nc2400, Core Duo U2500 processor, XP Pro with SP2.

It won't come out of standby - you press the power button and the power
light goes from flashing to constant, which is as it should be, but the
screen stays dead - not a glimmer.

Anyone had similar?
