Acer Aspire 5633WLMI Continuous Beeps at Acer logo

Just a post to say I used Crucials memory advisor to advise me what memory I should buy for my Acer Aspire 5633WLMI laptop and it duly advised on a 2GB PC2-4200 CL4 stick. So I recieved it in 3 days and installed it on 20/03/08. I noticed no problems untill the 22/03/08 when the machine started to make a continuous beeping sound after power on.

The only way I could get it to boot was to press the spacebar or esc key, it then booted Vista but I noticed the tap function of the touchpad wasn't working, as well as not being able to select certain things when using the left button. At first I thought the touchpad circuitary was on its way out but then it occured to me that maybe it was the new memory I`d installed, so I removed the new 2GB stick and the problem hasn't occured since.

I am RMAing the stick back to Crucial and hope to recieve one that works properly, it shouldn't be a compatibility issue as it was guaranteed to work with my laptop, I just hope the stick is faulty and that a new one will work fine.
