How old is the machine & how old is the battery?
I've had similar problems (Admittedly on other makes) due to faulty
batteries & connections, sometimes with batteries less than a year
old.

It's just over a year old. Missed the warrenty date by a few weeks.

Have a word with Consumer Direct on 08454 05 05 06, or Trading
Standards, who will advise you of your consumer rights. The warranty is
usually issued by the manufacturers and is in addition to your consumer
rights, but does not override them, so if the fault is due to a
component failure in the computer, (not the battery which will probably
be excluded), then the retailer could, as it is only just over a year
old, still be responsible for putting it right, but good advice is
