Mobile phone internet connection

So far i've only ever plugged my laptop into my home network to get a
internet connection .

My laptop has a CardBus slot and not a PCMCIA slot .

So , What is the minimum kit i need to buy in order to get mobile phone
internet connection - and what isp offers a suitable PAYG or 0800
connection for reasonable monthly cost etc .
