Memory? Or motherboard?
I'm starting to get a little annoyed by this stupid laptop and I can't
figure out if it's faulty memory or the motherboard.
Laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-FX501
It has 2 x 128MB memory sticks.
When I power it on, it doesn't boot up at all.
I remove one memory and tried to boot it up, it worked fine.
I swapped the memory with the one that I removed earlier and had the suspect
put back on while the good one is removed.
It doesn't boot up. I moved the suspect memory to a different slot, it
doesn't boot up too.
I removed the suspect memory and put the good memory in, it booted up OK on
both slots.
Then I removed the good memory and put the suspect memory back in and it
boots up fine! I moved the suspect memory to the other slot and it boot up
fine as well. Arghhh.
I've ran memory checker on both of these memory sticks and both came out as
passed.
So, what is going on? Is it playing tricks with me? Do I have a faulty
memory or faulty motherboard?
Thanks,
