I am getting a new laptop, the laptop that I have at the moment isGoogle for battery care and maintenance, lots of information. Mostly
usually plugged into the mains can you tell me if it is damaging to
the battery to run a laptop this way. Should it be continually
drained and recharged? Lynn
recommend taking it out and storing at 45% of charge. Recharge every
3 weeks and drain to 45%, store etc. This is supposed to prolong the
life of the battery.
My Compaq Presario 2200 runs on batteries mainly.
I run it down to 10% (minimum) and recharge fully.
Original battery still good for 2.5 hours and 1.5 hours (wireless on) -
same as when I got it 3 years ago.
I read somewhere its best to run them down low and then recharge fully
to get maximum life out the battery. This would extend the maximum
number of re-cycles the battery is capable of over a longer period.
The Compaq reference booklet says to use the battery regularly to
extend its life. Storing un-used for extended periods is not
recommended.
It also says to use mains when using the DVD/CDRW combo.
So far so good.
I have wondered how long it will go for, seeing as its getting a bit
old, and wondered if the HongKong cheapie batteries on Ebay are any
good.
I've seen varying reports on these in newsgroups - from DOA to better
than original.
Anyone tried them???
