There's nothing wrong with MCE. It is based on XP Pro rather than
Home so offers more features within the operating system.

I thought MS weren't going to support it any further, whilst with
Pro, support would be there for 7 years after it was finally
discontinued It was something I read but didn't take much notice of at
the time.
Clarification would be good. Can you help? I'm not that bothered with
Vista to be honest. Haven't seen it yet, but it requires so much
flippin' hardware, I wonder if it's worth it.

I try to keep up to date with PC stuff and I have not heard anything
about support for MCE drying up early. In fact I have read that it
has been becoming the standard offering in place of Home, as an
alternative to Pro. MCE is now being supplied on really quite lowly
machine and is a low or no cost optional upgrade from Home on others.
It is a great way to get XP Pro at low or no cost. Remember that MCE
*is* XP Pro but with the MCE application in addition. You basically
get more product for less money.

It seems that both XP Home and MCE were due for less support in future than
XP Pro but now they will all get the same.

Good news, thanks.
