Yuo could have a look on some of the other news groups /torrent sites for a
portable version of Win XP which is based on the PE version which would
allow you to boot from the CD as you wish to or you could download a live
version of Linux which runs from the Cd also something like Knoppix which
would do the same

Hi

I have WinXP PRO Acer laptop that will not boot. I've tried Safe Mode,
Command Prompt, Use Last Known Good Settings, but Windows fails to start
up. I have another XP laptop and would like to create a CD System disc,
to enable me to boot the Acer from CD Drive (Hasn't got a floppy drive).
How can I do this. I wish to somehow recover some stored data from the
Acer's Hard Drive.

you could get an external 2.5" drive case and fit the drive into it.
Connect this to your good laptop for file recovery.
