High speed internet woes in hotels

Just spent 3 frustrating hours trying to stay connected via ethernet at
a hotel. My toshiba laptop would only stay online for 5 minutes; after
which I got kicked offline. Ultimately I gave up and used a dial-up
connection. Not only was this expensive, but it was way too slow fro
Skype. Any help?
