The former one is a business orientated one and comes with XP Pro. These are

According to Sony's webpage this is now discontinued though loads of places
still sell them.

The latter is more aimed at home users and has XP Media centre edition and
is a current model.

I do agree that they have a ridiculously complicated and fast changing range
though.
