if you're running XP then just use SP2 and use window's native
bluetooth stack and interface as it's really pretty good. IBM don't
mess about when it comes to drivers, either, so if there's an IBM
download that gives an improved interface i'd be inclined to just stick
with it.
the third party drivers are horrible, by and large.
whilst getting mine to work under win2k the supplied OEM driver for a
bluetake branded one was dreadful - it's a widcom device underneath it
all, but can you download an updated driver? can you buggery. plus,
widcom cripple their OEM drivers to only work with a specific
OEM-branded dongle.
if you google enough there are hacked drivers that take out the
brand-specific strings so allowing you to use one driver with all
devices...
