Hi
I have just replaced the hard drive on a Toshiba A30 and am
attempting to re-install XP.
The h/d formatted OK but during the copying of set-up files the
laptop shuts down (not restarts). I have tried this several times and
the crash usually happens at this point or just before on the loading
files sectiion.
I have run some diagnostics on the system and all is well with the
new hard drive. Next I tried another copy of XP but have the same
problem.
The RAM is OK as far as I can tell, the fans are turning and the m/c
does not seem overly warm so I'm running out of ideas.
Can anyone give my some advice on this.
Thanks in advance
Conrad
When I had a similar problem on a Thinkpad 600X a few months ago, the
machine was diagnosed as having a fatal memory problem on the system board.
I now use it as a doorstop!
PS- My insurance company replaced the machine with a brand-new Tosh A60!
Worth a try if all else fails!
Dennis.
