I'm sorry if this question has been asked in the past.
I have always used a desktop in the past, but I have now ordered a new
Dell
Inspiron 6000 with XP Media edition for my outdoor pursuits etc, and want
to
know how to connect the laptop to the desktop which has XP Professional to
copy files etc. Do I just connect a USB cable to it or is there another
cable you should use? Also the laptop has WIFI, which I understand you can
access the internet, emails etc from Hotspots, but how do you go about
doing
this? I already have broadband on the desktop, but do you have to enrol in
another ISP for the Hotspots?

laptop, you can just share files on your wireless network.
Alternatively you could use a wired solution such as a router or
direct connection. If thats all too much bother, just buy a cheap usb
pen drive and keep the files you want to share on that.
If you find yourself in range of a wireless hotspot, your laptop will
see it and usually display an information page on your web browser.
This interface will allow you to register and buy access time with
that particular hotspot provider.
