Hi,
I just have bought dell inspiron 6000 and on hdd
there are 3 partitions, two hidden and one with windows xp
I would like to get rid of windows and install linux instead
but still I want to keep xp just in case.
So I figured out how to make a backup on DVD disck and
and Im asking for advice whether my method is correct.
So my plan looks this way: do images of my partitions
using Norton Ghost 2003 and save it on DVDs. So when I decide to
restore those images on HDD the last thing to do will be changing MBR by customizing MBR as Dell do by changing
partition table indicator. In my opinion this is enough to
make everything works just like its brand new.
Please correct me if Im wrong.
Other option looks like this: make only one image of partition with widows and just retsore it when I need it without dell restore utilities, that I think should work fine as well. Im asking for your opinion becouse Im not familiar with procedures like that but I have to do it becouse Dell dont provide any CDc or DVD with software
Thank you for your help marcin
