NVIDIA driver update?

Hi,
I bought the program "Driver Genius" in the optimistic hope that any
future re-install of the XP OS would be made easier by having a full
set of re-installable drivers to chuck back in as part of the process.
One of the "Driver Genius" options was to check for and locate updated
drivers for download and installation.
One of the several I chose to update was the "nvidia geforce fx
go5600" graphics driver. This was the only one that would not update,
the driver's setup program claiming that no compatible hardware could
be found. Yet, there, large as life in the "Device Manager" list on my
laptop an earlier version of this driver is shown as being installed.
I tried to install the same driver from several other sources and got
the same error message. Is this a laptop hardware restriction?
TIA
