Problem with sound on a D27ES

Got myself a cloned Clevo or something D27ES laptop. Been working great for
the last few years, does all I need. I went to the US in May, came back in
August, just switched it on, and the sound no longer works. I have even
gone as far as re-loading the OS (2000 pro) and still no sound. I even put
XP Pro on it and nothing.

No errors, all drivers correct, looked at the speakers and they are ok, etc.

Anyone got an ideas? It isnt muted, I've tried all the internal settings,
the external control, etc.

Feel kind of lost without sound...
