OT - email munging

I subscribe to a very low traffic regional newsgroup and I'd like to know
more about an obscene message recently posted there and the consequences of
replying to it.

Does the use of an octet in the fake email address signify anything?

No such newsgoup, but a reply (to group) wasn't rejected by the reliable
Berlin news-server - does this signify anything?
