In any case it's probably worth trying umount.nfs as your normal user.
umount.nfs: You are not permitted to unmount /media/htpc

You seem to be doing everything right, I was just going to suggest trying
At this point I can only think of interactions with console-kit, hal, etc.
Or SElinux. But they are a mystery to me I'm afraid ! Not sure if hal
is still in unstable.
