Is there a program or tool set that can change the Song/Artist/track
information and/or the sound format in audio files?
I'd prefer command line
Mutagen (python-mutagen in Fedora):
http://code.google.com/p/mutagen/
is a library for editing all sorts of metadata on all sorts of audio
files. It contains a simple command-line tool called mid3v2 which should
be exactly what you need.
FWIW my current problems are more concerned with divergences between the
SqueezeboxServer's idea of playlist syntax and the M3U spec and the way
it insists on keeping a cache of outdated stuff and not picking up
changes to playlists or tags. Its faster and handles more file formats
than mt-daapd, but seems to have retained these faults.
I have submitted a bug report....
You need to reload the collection rather than just update it.
