Hi all,
Is there a (ideally free) util that would work like Ghost to allow me
to clone one drive onto another from a Live CD of some sort please?
Or if I would have to install it, something that would run under
Ubuntu (8.1)?
Cheers, T i m
Depending on the drive make, some manufacturers offer a bootable CD ISO
that does exactly that. Seagate do for one.
Ah, ok, the new drive is a Hitachi and the old a Maxtor (not sure that
helps does it)? :-(
Cheers, T i m
Yes, it helps you!
Maxtor and Seagate are now the same company. The utility they provide to
do what you need is called Disk Wizard; as long as you have at least one
drive of either make in the machine, it will work very well indeed.
It is a cut-down version of software provided by Acronis.
