Problems with wireless (Ubuntu 7.10 and Netgear wireless card)

Hi all,

I have a new desktop PC with 2x 3.2 Ghz AMD processors, an Asus M2N4-
SLI Deluxe motherboard and a Netgear wireless card. I run Ubuntu 7.10.

The network monitor applet on the top right
corner of the screen correctly shows wireless networks, but I can't
connect to mine: I click on it, enter the password, and after a while
nothing happens (not even a specific error message). I also have a
laptop with Ubuntu, and it can connect to my wireless network with no
problem following the very same steps.

Any suggestions? Is there way to try to connect through the command
line, so as to read detailed error messages, if any?

Thanks a lot!

.
