Hi
My requirements are very basic and I have Fedora 8, along with a couple of
additional apps and this setup does all I require and seems stable enough to
take over from my MS PC. The ONLY reason I used Fedora, was that Fedora Core 4
was the basis of the Asterisk setup I also use.
Because I want long term stability, rather than innovation, I know Fedora is the
wrong choice. Also, I know there was a suggestion you could update from Fedora 7
8 but I had no joy with the proceedure and I know I wasn't alone.
So the question is, which distro is going to give me best longevity and
hopefully the ability to update, without starting from scratch each time ?
Debian Stable.
Which I use everywhere - even on the desktop. It might not be as
bleeding-edge as some of the others, but it's name is the key for me.
It's also easy to update without reinstalling.
And while there is an asterisk package for it, I'd suggest compiling it
from source, but YMMV ....
