DVB and Kaffeine

I had it all working, lost it. Got it working again and now not. I am using
a Mandriva kernel 2.6.22.9 and the firmware is definitely in place
at /lib/firmware yet dmesg shows that the Hauppauge Nova-T-500 cannot find
it and /dev/dvb no longer shows up.

My understanding was that that kernel level included the drivers. If true I
cannot work out what else to check.

Can anyone help?
