I have never tried using a combined unit, my old Epson 610 scanner works
and my Epson C84 has outlasted any of my previous printers. I buy my ink from
a local shop, that also repairs printers. The guy there told me that the C84
is good, in that he sells a lot of ink and rarely get one to repair. There are
others where he repairs more than sells ink.
Has anyone used a combined unit? I would have though that all the combined
units are is a scanner and a printer connected through a USB hub (in a single
box) and providing you buy either Epson or HP they would work perfectly well
with linux.
Not sure about the fax, but I have never seen the point of turning ascii text
into a bitmap and sending it down a phoneline.
