Yes, they were very nice fast scanners, and do work well. I had different
model when I first bought a scanner, and it was impossibly slow. This one
does a high resolution (600dpi) page in about 10 sec. The previous one took

looking into the market for flatbed scanners and found that they seem to
have lost their popularity. There don't seem to be any medium-priced
scanners (£60-£100) available that work on linux any more. I'm concerned

Hope and pray?

Well, the good news is that my Epson Perfection 1650 seems to be OK for
the moment. It had started making a strange noise on each scan which I
thought was incipient breakdown but it seems to be produced by the
epkowa driver. Using the native sane epson driver it's fine.

I find it odd that these scanners have disappeared from the market. I
suppose everyone has gone over to the combined printers-scanners, which
seems like a retrograde step to me.
