Is there a news reader in Linux (other than Thunderbird) that will

I have fairly major random problems in accessing news servers on ports
119 (and sometimes on port 563), my ISP has absolutely NO idea why it
happens, and very often the only way onto a news server is via a secured
one on port 563....
thanks
I have no problems with Pan

I've used PAN under Ubuntu for the last year or so, did have problems with
the one in the repositories for Ubuntu handling groups with larger number of
threads to download, but just went direct to the PAN website and downloaded
the latest beta version.
