Get your phone line checked; if that's OK and doesn't improve things, get
a new external modem. Even Windows doesn't much like 'windmodems'; Linux
certainly doesn't.

MaBell needs competition to keep them at the best. ... The only thing I have had to do, which I believe is related to my ISP is occasionally reboot my ISP and telephone modem.... (rec.boats)

Re: Creating ISP connection ADSL ... The ISP is Wanadoo. ... The ADSL modem is an Alcatel ... I cannot get it to create a new connection icon... THE MODEM ATTACHED and DO NOT plug it in until indicated by the installation... (microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support)
