Depends what you want to do with your phone connected to the PC?
I can bluetooth files between my Nokia N73 and Ubuntu system, but can't get
it to sync my contacts and calendar or use as a modem. Still need to switch
to my WinXP system to use the supplied Nokia Software.
worked better... I keep a FC5 VM for this purpose. You also need gnapplet on
your phone, which you must run before you run gnokii.
My old 6230, and my wifes 6230i works great with gnokii, it is easy to maintain
the phonebook, sms folders, calendar. Everything just worked. You can also
explore the memory card and transfer files using obex-ftp.
One thing I do find frustrating with both gnokii and bluez, is the amount of
effort that seems to go into supporting obsolete phones. But I guess thats a
product of the UK networks giving free phones away every 12/18 months and the
ones we trade in must go somewhere.
